Tattoo Aftercare

Your new tattoo has a clear, adhesive bandage covering it. It is normal for the area to become warm and to have sweat, plasma, and ink collect underneath the bandage. Keep this bandage on for at least 24 hours.

When removing the bandage, wash the tattoo and surrounding area with a gentle cleanser, making sure to rinse thoroughly. Blot with a clean, soft towel (no rubbing), and let the tattoo air dry for about 10 minutes. Then apply a hypo-allergenic (free of dye and scent) skin lotion. Continue washing and applying lotion, 2-3 times a day for the next 3 weeks. As your tattoo heals, it can be itchy and irritated. This is a normal part of the healing process.

DO NOT scratch or pick at any scabs or peeling skin that may develop.
DO NOT apply petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or antibiotic cream.
DO NOT soak your tattoo in the tub or shower. Get in, get clean, get out.
DO NOT go into swimming pools, hot tubs, rivers, etc. for a minimum of 2 weeks, or until your tattoo is fully healed.

If you experience severe swelling or burning, red bumps/other signs of a rash, or have severe pain, contact your artist or a physician immediately.
